Good Bye :(

December 27th, 2006

Hello, everyone.

Today is kind of a mixed emotional day today. The staff and I have thought this over for the past 2-3 months. This is the toughest thing we would ever have to do and for me its really hard. Selling my baby, Square Online Alliance has been my pride and joy over the years and it’s really sad to let it go. Square Online Alliance was really special for the early years it wasn’t very popular and struggled to gain a measly 50 unique visitors but with patience it grew into something beautiful. I feel like Square Online Alliance is like my baby and will always be something special. Its has truly been a great honor working with all the staff over the years, not just being your boss but being your friend and still talking has meant a great deal to me and hope it continues as so. The fans and the loyal forum members that have stayed with us over the years I must thank you because your loyalty and commitment to make our community thrive really touches a part of my heart.  Never the least I would like to thank Khaos my right hand man for always being there for me over this year and working so hard it is most appreciated as well keeping me sane. Moreaga for his helpfulness in the content and making this success happen. Cloud 668 for all his hard work on conversions, forums and advertising without you Square Online Alliance wouldn’t have been a great success. I also like to thank all the staff that we still have today your work and efforts are most appreciated and you will always be remembered. As well I’d again like to thank the fans who voted for me in websites as best webmaster and best gaming and best overall, etc. Looking at these awards will bring back memories for the years to come and bring tears to my eyes.  They say a captain never abandons ships and he must always go down with his ship which makes me sad because I am passing it down to a friend and I know she will do a swell job. What is in store for me? Well lets say I will be around the community working on various projects perhaps or just lounging I will probably stay at the forums from time to time and maybe give a hand over here its all undecided. If you would like to talk to me my contacts are bellow.

Bye Squall, Christopher

Well, it has come to an end. The end of the original staffers of Square Online Alliance. It’s a been a crazy 11 months, huh? I enjoyed working for the satisfaction of all you guys.  Hell, I’ll admit that I probably even learned a thing or two from Squall and the staff. Although most of you don’t even know who I am (granted I don’t post much news, nor am I extremely active on the forums, I do all the graphics and whatnot for SOA. I also did some converting (Which I really freaking’ hate I gotta tell ya). I don’t know if any of you guys know, or have been here long enough to

know, but Square Online Alliance was just originally Square Online. Just Squall, Striker and I. Although Striker isn’t with us anymore, He was a great contributer to (SO)SOA. He converted at least 4 or 5 COMPLETE sections to fit the new SO layout (which was made by myself, heh). Then, we learned about SEO [Search Engine Optimization], and went from there just trying to have fun while providing healthy Square-Enix site that everyone could enjoy.

After a few months of gaining more hits and affiliates, we learned Of Square Alliance and their staffers, which includes but were not limited to: (Moreaga[webmaster],  Cloud668[Co-webmaster], Nintendo Freak[Writer], and Nicol Armarfi[some guy with cheese in his pants]). We merged, creating the site you know (and hopefully love:  The Square-Online Alliance. We learned each others’ styles, humor, creativity, and ideas. Yeah, we fought a bit (especially Nicol and I - boy now those are some stories), anyways, Even with all the bickering and fighting going
on, we still managed to stay like a team and sort of fuse our content, and make it even MORE unique, giving us even more unique hits.

But then I quit. Yeah, I say this with all honesty. I quit. I quit SOA after 10 months straight in the run because I felt that there was no more that I could contribute to the website as a whole and well, I just didn’t have the time. It was a tough decision I don’t regret because it gave me time to realize what a big freaking’ mistake that was and came back. That was around… October. I came back November 17th. Now here I stand telling you that we’re not gonna be staffers anymore. No, that doesn’t mean the end of Squall, Khaos, Moreaga, Cloud, and Nicol. No. It opens up to a new wave of ideas and trust me, we’ll be back. Much better and stronger than before. Those who know me, know that i’m not very emotional at anything. I’m not good at goodbyes either, because I seldom have to say it. But.. I guess this is one of those times that I will.

SOA has, to me, become a symbol of hope for all upcoming web designers. It is what made me choose the career path I’m taking (as web designer). I loved every second of it, even the fighting

. (Yeah Squall, I loved converting, just not as much as you guys), It’s hard for me, but I’m guessing it’s even harder for you guys, the visitors, to even BEGIN to comprehend why we did this. We did it because, like I said before, we felt it was time to move on to something greater together. So this is my good bye to SOA. One more graphics piece for all of you. My final message is: Thank you, these have been some of the best, if not THE best 11 months of my life. Thanks Guys, from the beginning it has been complete and total chaos, heh (no pun!!).

Signing out for now,
-         Khaos.

Hey everyone, this is Cloud, the co-webmaster. Last year during November, I have started to work with MOREAGA on Square Alliance, I have been writing guides for the site, starting from a filthy little n00b guide writer, to a co-webmaster. Then during late May, 2006 when Square Alliance and Square Online merged into Square Online Alliance, I have been worked on various little things on the site, along with the rest of the team, to bring you the best content you can find. We haven’t gotten a lot of traffic at first, but after a while, our hard work has finally paid back, we got over 900 unique hits at most for one day.I have learned a lot from Squall, MOREAGA and Khaos. About how to take care on a website, how to bring more visitors and other things, I am glad that I met these three wonderful partners, who have given me the chance to enjoy contributing to the site, thank you

More Tactics

December 14th, 2006

One day after the surprise announcement of Dragon Quest IX for the DS, Square Enix is all set to drop another bombshell. According reports out of Japan, the next issue of Jump Magazine will contain news of two new Final Fantasy Tactics games.

The PSP will be getting Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou, an updated version of the original PlayStation classic. Square Enix is adding new jobs and some slick cell shaded movies, but aside from that, it’s unclear what kind of improvements we can expect.

The second project is a bit more mysterious. Nothing is known about this game, except for its title: Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Fuuketsu no Guurimore. We don’t even know its target platform. Jump is promising an update down the road.

Both projects fall under a series of projects that Square Enix refers to as “Ivalice Alliance,” Ivalice being the name of the world in which both Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII take place. Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings, a DS offshoot of this year’s PS2 blockbuster, also falls under this project.

We’ve yet to see the Jump report for ourselves, but with the annual Jump Festa comic/videogame show scheduled to kick off on Saturday in Tokyo, we’re hoping to get a look at both new projects shortly. We’ll be back later this week with whatever details we can dig up at the show.

Final Fabtasy XIII Versus Trailer!

December 8th, 2006

Hello everyone, today Square-Enix officially released the Final Fantasy XIII Versus trailer, and all I can say is that is quiet awesome. Although not much is shown on the trailer it leaves you with suspense wondering what will happen. Hopefully more media and information is released about Final Fantasy XIII Versus.

So heres what you have all been waiting for the Final Fantasy XIII Versus Trailer

Crisis Core Trailer surfaced on the internet

December 2nd, 2006

via joystiq

Square Enix’s closed-door TGS trailer for Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core has finally surfaced. For the bulk of this five-minute demonstration, a handful of manicured men (and one woman) ham it up in a whirlwind of staged emotional drama. Are we supposed to want to play a soap opera? (Don’t answer that.)

There are some brief moments of relief, glimpses into the game’s active battle system, which suggest commonalities with Final Fantasy XII. There’s no denying that Crisis Core appears extraordinarily capable; a bittersweet detail. That is, efforts like Crisis Core really highlight the lack of solid support for PSP. Alas, Square Enix’s prequel has been a long time coming — and, for those of us outside of Japan, the wait isn’t getting any shorter.
